Blue Fantasy Blog Hop Reveal

     I have never been a big fan of the color Blue, unless of course it is the sky when riding my motorcycle or Ocean water.  Statistics say, that it is the number one color favorite of people all over the world.  Of course, I dare to be different, therefore I never really found a great appeal in working with blue beads of any type. On very RARE occasion, I have used blue as an accent bead, but almost feel anxiety when working with it.
     Over the last year, I have become interested in creating my own designs and patterns and have ceased in taking the 'safe' mode when beading.  When I first saw that Lisa Lodge had put together a Blog hop featuring Blue, I decided to skip on the challenge, but I kept hearing that little voice say, 'take a chance on blue', so I accepted the challenge.
     When the beads arrived, I let them sit on the beading desk for a couple of weeks before I finally and with much trepidation decided I better get started.  It seemed like the more I created and produced, the more beads there were.  I was beginning to think that they were multiplying while I was sleeping. They soon became known in my house as "the Blue Gremlins."

    Here are the projects that I have come up with.  A total of 3 necklaces, 2 bracelets and 3 pair of earrings and I STILL have not used up all of the blue beads.

 

I Love the Asymmetry of this piece.

This piece contains antique gold bead caps that didn't quite work as caps so I put two together to make spacer beads between the pearls.  I like the way it turned out.

The bracelet is my own pattern that I designed originally to teach at Bead Blast 2013 in Kansas City.  I call it "Of Corset Laces".  It is actually reversible with a corset lace embellishment on the top side and a slant, asymmetric embellishment on the back side.

Deborah Farrand.

There are still many beads left from this challenge.  I shall add them to my stash and someday I will get back to working with blue again.  I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my pieces and I encourage you to check out the other designs by my "Bead Blog companions".
